The intent of The Retreat Center is for Hammer & Nails to offer a Mini-Mission opportunity to volunteer groups. Having affordable housing available to accommodate up to 16 overnight participants will open the door for volunteer groups to have that mission experience without having to incur the larger cost – “A Mission in your own Backyard.”
*AFFORDABLE – Where else can you house up to 16 people for $125 a night!?! That’s per night, NOT per person!
*OPPORTUNITY – Do you, your church, your congregation have hearts of service, but not the funding required to participate in a Mission Trip? Hammer & Nails is the answer! With The Retreat Center opportunity, we can offer that Mission Trip experience without going so far away! There are people in need right here in your own backyard! It is a great opportunity to give back and instill in the youth how to serve while teaching them life skills. Being able to stay together in the evenings will give the group time to bond.
*BLESSING – Groups participating in Mini-Missions (several days of work on service projects) will allow Hammer & Nails to reach many more homeowners in need. Projects will be completed quicker by groups working consistent days verses several weeks of Saturday work days only.
Things to expect in choosing a The Retreat Center and a Mini-Mission Service Project:
$125 per night (overnight occupancy limit: 16)
Must provide own meals (no stove available)
- Outdoor gas grill with side burner available
- Microwave, griddle, crock pot & roaster on site
Must provide own bedding
- One sleeper sofa on first floor
- Suggested air mattresses, cots, etc.
Sponsoring a Service Project (based on skill of leadership & time frame)
- Interior Painting - $300 + (depending on how many rooms)
- Drywall - $500 +
- Exterior Painting - $1000
- Construction (porch floor, porch roof, etc) - $2000
- Wheel Chair Ramp - $2500
